mergeDuplicateLevels

Merges duplicate path levels.

For example, merge the path 'foo.bar.foo.bar.baz' with duplicate levels as 'foo.bar.baz'. But if they are not connected, just like foo.bar.break.foo.bar.baz, it will not merge.
