Parameters:

project - the project to register the sync task on; a no-op unless the java plugin is applied.

logger - receives diagnostic output.

resourcesExtension - the extension supplying the repository URL, branch, and sub-path to sync.

repositories - the client used to clone/pull the configured repository.
